Japanese investors express interest in hydropower potential of Tajikistan
The delegation from Japan, comprising 40 people and including the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Hiroshige Seko, visited the booth of Tajikistan during the exhibition held in Astana.
According to the media service of Tajikistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Odil Sangov, Tajikistan booth director, welcomed the guests at the exhibition.
Tajikistan is one of the leading countries by global water initiatives. Hydropower is an important part of country’s energy generation – Tajikistan has immense potential, including renewable and ecologically friendly hydro resources.
The development of hydropotential contributes to economic growth not only of the country, but also the entire region.
The Minister agreed that Tajikistan hydropower development may be of interest to Japanese investors. All the information about hydropower resources will be delivered to functional agencies and companies of Japan.
“In October 2015, Japanese Prime-Minister Shinzo Abe visited Tajikistan and had a meeting with Tajikistan President Emomali Rakhmon”, says the Minister.
