Hydroproject Institute (RusHydro)
Design, research and scientific institute “Hydroproject” named after Zhuk S.Y. is one of the oldest institutions, engaged in the design of hydropower and water facilities. The Institute is involved in the entire range of research and design works – from the development of power schemes and hydro economic utilization of rivers to the construction and commissioning of facilities. The institute is one of the best design organisations in the sphere of hydropower.
The facilities designed by the Institute operate across Russia and abroad. Over 250 HPPs with the overall capacity exceeding 65 000 MW and annual power generation as of 230bn kWh are located in Russia, CIS and Baltic countries. Besides, more than 50 HPPs with the total capacity of 26 000 MW operate in 45 countries worldwide. The Institute has designed several navigable canals, including Moscow Canal, Volga-Don Canal named after V.I. Lenin, and the one and only tidal power station in Russia – Kislogubskaya HPP.
